is it love at first sight?
outside right now there is a slight spattering of snow. it is 35 degrees, so there is a fair amount of slush too. but when i walked out to to car to close the sun roof (it was slightly ajar), there was the most delightful crunch crunch crunch under my boots. me thinks i might like winter.

okay, so i remembered my blogaversary, and then promptly forgot it. so i will talk about it now.
yeah! it has been one year! i need to update the uber, and see where i am at with its standings. it feels like i have done a lot, but i don't know...
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
it is a lovely cold day in connecticut. i will start cooking soon, and bust out the comal to heat up my tamales. yum! i hope that everyone has a lovely day, and that we are all thankful for what we have.
for me, i am thankful that i have a fabulous family! nuclear and extended! i am thankful that my kin was spared in the sylmar fires, and although my grandpa was evacuated, i am thankful that he is still around to be evacuated. i am thankful that during this time of economic woe, my husband has a good job, and is able to provide us with the things we need, and a lot of things we don't need. i am thankful for my friends. i am looking forward to the day when we all go nuts at the same time, and relish in the conversations where we make these plans. i am thankful for my health. i am thankful for the fiber arts that have kept my stresses down, and my creativity up. i am thankful for good neighbors. and i am thankful for those that are serving their country, and are away from their families. sometimes i forget that Pat could be underwater, far away, instead of with us, playing and having a good time. i will try to be more thankful that he has witnessed the birth of both our babies, and been around to see them start their cute little lives. i am thankful.

what a bad blogger...
i just found a post, languishing in word. it was from june. go see it... i'm too lazy to link it.
wow!
okay, so i was looking through all my flickr sets, and my blog, and i came to the realization that i haven't written about a lot of stuff. sooo... i am going to make it my goal to back blog. maybe all the way through april. i think if i take it a bit at a time it shouldn't be too bad. then again, maybe i am crazy.
btw i just finished september.

september and october update.
since there has been a time change i am up early and the kids are sleeping. i have already picked up the house, and had a cup o joe, AND worked on a scarf a bit. now i will blog!
looking at my lack of blogging, it seems that i might need to catch up with all summer. maybe this will be a week long blogging event.

Happy Halloween!
It is Halloween and we can’t wait!
Liz is a kitty, and jake likes to pet her
jake is a chef, of the boy-r-dee type
the neighbors came over and we had a party in the garage.
liz and tyler went trick or treating.
and there was a sad broke down pumpkin
and there was much eating of candy.
there were so many trick or treaters we ran out of candy. It was a fun night and the kids had a great time.

Pumpkin carving.
Since it is getting really close to Halloween we decided it is time to carve pumpkins. Some of the neighbors down the stree carved theirs early, and they have already begun to rot, but I think the timing is right for us.
jake wants to help clean out the brains.
liz is super stoked to be cutting
she was so excited she flew away… almost.
daddy was happy to watch most of it from the bench.

Halloween Happening
There was a free Halloween party on base and it was a good way to get out of the house. The weather is really beginning to turn cold, so indoor things are a treat.
Jake got ready by pretending he was a banana, and had a sticker on his head.
liz and pat got to carve a pumpkin.
liz was describing how she wanted it to look, and the kid next to her couldn’t believe it!
jake was bored and wanted to eat candy.

Fall in New England
October 20
When they say there isn’t anything like fall in New England, they are right. The weather is crisp and bright, and the colors are like nothing I have ever seen.
it is still warm enough for the kids to play outside, and we let them as much as we can.
pat is too cool for school.
and jake has a new hat to match the season.

i know how this works...
if i say i am going to do something on this blog, it doesn't happen. sooooo...
tomorrow i am going to wake up nice and early and scrub all the floors in my house, while making a five course meal. then, i am going to take the quickest fastest shower i can, and instead of taking a nap i will rearrange all the closets and store the summer clothes. if all goes well, tomorrow should be a very productive, and tiring day...

i know, i know...
i promised more posts... but somehow, whenever i do that, my days are filled with things to do. and right now i am busy with laundry lunch, tendonitis, and wishing i was going to rhinebeck. oh well... it could be worse. it could be tomorrow, which is filled with sewing a white cat costume for liz.

The Groton Fall Festival
We went to the fall festival and got to see lots of city stuff up close. There was a helicopter from base.
there were diggers, ambulances and fire trucks…
and pumpkins.
it was a nice way to start the fall season. The weather was lovely, and we enjoyed ourselves for half a day. As much as everyone complains about Groton, I like the small town feel of it.

We are home
There was much putting away, and getting back to normal. Part of that included Liz picking her pinto beans
starting swim classes, which she is doing fantastic at,
and getting a haircut! I hadn’t cut her hair ever, but the crying was getting to be too much for the both of us. So it had to be done. You can hardly tell, but life is a bit easier for me so I am happy.

getting ready to say good bye.
The night before we left the family go together to eat some pizza and play some games at mountasia. It was a blast.
Nani just HAD to check her texts. Maybe it was something important!
all the kids shared a ride on a truck
and a merry go round
with all the tickets we won, the kids got these whistles.
and the evening wouldn’t be complete without candy!
Here is Nani showing jake how to open his mouth for Pop Rocks.
jake isn’t too sure what to think of them.
we were sad to be leaving, but looking forward to seeing Pat… too bad I still had packing to do.

Back to the Val.
When we got back, it was more family, fun, and eating.
There were yummies at Pie n Burgers.
I had a piece of pumpkin pie with real whipped cream
my niece Jessie was working on her street cred.
after all that food there needed to be a lot of lounging and hanging out.

Random Hawaii.
These are some pics that don’t really go with anything else.
I miss the geckos. Their chirping always makes me happy.
there was a display of shoes worn by women that had their feet bound. I have never been so appreciative of my freedom of shoes.
liz likes to watch hula. Maybe there is a future of dance for her.
diamond head
and of course a lovely sunset.
