The Corn Festival.

We went to a pow wow put on by the local tribes.
Here is pat, helping jake cross the street.

here is what we really came for… the FOOD!

it was jakes first fry bread.

the kids had fun playing in the village.

then we all watched a bit of dancing.

There were plenty of people there, and I Loved it! I wish it had been cooler, but it was still beautiful.

ravelympics: day thirteen!

i thought i was going to finish. i really did. i worked and worked and only had one more row of the baby heirloom blanket, and then i got to it... the dreaded picot. it is really tedious, but beautiful. i really should have it done tomorrow. ends weaving and all.

here is a photo without the picot groups

and here is one with

and to think the only difference is dc, ch3, sl st in 3rd ch.

ravelympics: day eleven and twelve!

it isn't that i don't want to sit and knit... or sit and crochet... it's just that my house is falling apart, and i get to be the one to clean it up. lucky me.

i almost finished the baby heirloom blanket, but then i found two mistakes that couldn't be fudged and i had to rip it out. then the ripped out yarn decided it wanted to die, and strangled itself into a big fat knot. there was no creation during yesterdays olympics. only the reconstruction of a yarn ball.

Liz is a big girl.

I finally got off my butt and went to the store to get Liz a big bed. We are all excited about it. She has a bed, and we might actually get some room to sleep.
Everyone is excited for her.

it is a comfy bed, with wall-e sheets, and a pink blanket.

sleepy liz.

ravelympics: day eight!

drop stitch skarf anyone???

DONE AND DONE!!!

i think this is the fastest i have EVER finished a skarf. ususally they are very long snd drawn out tedious things. thanks to the ravelympics i finished this in a flash! i kind of wish it was a little longer, but i like the fatness of it.

ravelympics: day six and seven

i haven't really gotten much done. well.. in terms of knit/crochet. there has been plenty of playing outside, and neighbors having babies! and commissary-ing and walmart-ing. but not knit/crochet... i have basically been adding length to the drop stitch.

i made sure to take this pic at an angle... it looks longer that way.

when i am not furiously trying to finish a WIP or cleaning or eating, i am usually wrangling my kiddos. today was all about sesame street, and recorders.

liz wanted to make sure the dinos all had a good view of the tv.

jake doesn't like to wear clothes in the morning.

they both wanted to play me their cover of Elmo's World song.

my ears bled, and are still bleeding, but it was beautiful. i like it when they play nice together.

jake wants to be a hooker when he grows up...

he likes to crochet just like mom.

and yes... that is the olympics that we are watching.

ravelympics: day five...

it seems like i am stitching all the time, but not getting anything done. maybe it is the fact that i have a lot of things on the needles and i am in the middle of all of them...

i cast on another two dishcloths. i will be attempting to work them simultaneously, as they are of the same pattern.

i am still working on the unoriginal hat. it is a bit difficult to find the time for cables with a wiggly baby... even if they are REALLY big and REALLY easy cables.

i am still adding length to the drop stitch skarf. i think this may be the easiest thing to work on. i only have to remember 4 rows, 3 of which are knit and 1 that consists of YOs.

and i did finish the hot diggity! i wish the pattern was more clear, the stripes kind of take away from it, but i know its there.

i just wish i had more time... there is sooo much i want to do.

ravelympics: day four!!!

i seem to be losing steam. or maybe i am just busy as usual. who knows. i seem to get most of my yarn-y goodness done early in the morning, or late at night. daytime is filled with kids and cleaning.

here is a pot holder i finished

i also worked on another washcloth. It is supposed to look like a hot dog, but i don't think the stripes allow for the pattern to show up well. i'm okay with that because the reddish color reminds me of ketchup stains and the brown makes me think of bread. it's fitting in its own way.

and did a few more rows on the skarf, in the car.

oh! and i cast on an unoriginal hat.

i guess i just have crafty ADD.
i think i can handle it though... i hope.

Ravelympics: day three!!!

okay so the dishcloths were a bit of a wash!! (harhar). i finished one. thats it. one.

i started another, but alas sleep called. as for the skarf... nada mas.

hopefully day four will be a bit better.

Saturday, August 9, 2008

ravelympics: day two!!!

i was humming along on the skarf when it hit me... boredom. good thing i planned for that.

i worked on a dishcloth and finished it!

tomorrow will bring more dishcloths and perhaps a bit more length on the skarf.

ravelympics: day one!!!

sooo... i woke up late... i was supposed to wake up at 7:30 and cast on... instead i woke up at 8:30 and cast on...

i decided to start with a skarf since it will end up being the most monotonous thing, and i should be able to work on it throughout the games should i get bored with it.

thanks to ellen bloom for the heads up on the colorway.
